DEADLINE INTERVIEW

Ryan Jackson-Healy earned his masters degree in cinematography at the American Film Institute in the summer of 2018 and quickly went to work, lensing the independent feature First Person (starring Valene Kane and Odessa Young), while still in school. This was his second feature with director Ashley Cahill, whom he met while getting his undergraduate degree in Cinema-TV Production at USC. Their first collaboration, Random Acts of Violence, was a guerilla film in every sense of the word. Even with a $6,000 budget, the film was picked up for theatrical distribution in Europe and has streamed on both Netflix and Amazon Prime. His most recent feature, Mass, screened at Sundance where it was picked up by Bleecker Street. It went on to have an extensive international theatrical run, racking up many accolades in the process - including the prestigious Robert Altman Award at the Independent Spirits. Actors, directors, producers and fellow crew members who have worked with him will tell you that he is a joy to work with, an honest and creative collaborator, and a special talent. Ryan is currently based in New York and spends his down time working with ceramics and photography.
